As an early years provider, Little Chicks Day Nursery, will follow the Department for Education SEND code of practice, available here. This is a statutory guidance for organisations which work with and support children and young people who have special educational needs or disabilities.
As part of the Children and Families Act, Local Authorities have been directed to produce a Local Offer. For Sefton's Local Offer please click here. You will be able to access further information about the provision Sefton Council expects to be available locally for our children and young people from 0 to 25, who have special educational needs and/or disability (SEND). Their Local Offer also details the various services available from local agencies, explaining eligibility criteria and referral processes.
Little Chicks Day Nursery will follow the Graduated Approach to supporting children in our care, following an 'assess, plan, do, review' cycle, ensuring parent(s)/carer(s) are kept informed at all stages and that the child's view is taken into account, where possible. The aim is to provide the offer of support, to meet the needs of children, in the right place and at the right time. You can access further information about Sefton's Early Years Special Education Needs and Disabilities Team and offer here.
